Silly Amateur Don’t Cry is a fun publication that embodies the essence of the Rietveld Academy. It is the result of a collaborative project between Rietveld students and alumni, brought together in a single publication. The content is experimental, while the binding is in a more simple way. We particularly like the typography used in the interviews. It feels inviting to read and gives an accent of personality. It is clear that this publication is made by young graphic designers, which also spoke to us. We did question whether the fonts were showcased to their full potential in the design. However, this did not take away our overall impression as a well made, fun and creative publication. It’s a representation of the artistic and experimental character of the Rietveld education.
