Footprint
Footprint is an exciting visual exploration of the presence of our world, delving into the mysterious qualities of Google Earth and questioning whether it is truly a map or a unique image of the world. The project is a collaboration between the artist Gerco de Ruijter and the writer and filmmaker Peter Delpeut, who captured the essence of Will Rogers World Airport (OKC) through aerial and satellite photography of the surrounding landscape. First initial impression is that it is complex yet not overwhelming, and this is where the design concept truly shines. By folding and unfolding the book, a map-like experience is created, perfectly in tune with the book’s overall concept. The interior of the book is rich and beautifully compiled, each time the book is opened, a new puzzle – combination emerges. This masterfully presents a variety of information through its use of text, photos, and infographics, which is balanced and coherent. The addition of a tactile and neat cover effectively holds all the diverse materials together, creating an engaging reading experience.
