‘Viva la Frida!’ is the book compendium to the recent exhibition of the same name which took place at the Drenths Museum. The book brings together the artworks and the life story of Frida Kahlo, as well as additional essays and context. Through the colourful, scrapbook-like editing approach, Kahlo’s art and politics are made accessible to a broad audience, beyond the typical “museum elite”. Goofy and bold at some points, the book gets serious when it needs to and seamlessly shifts tone when necessary. Throughout the book, a lot of easter eggs are implemented, like the double image printed on the fore-edge. Viva la Frida!
