A complex translation of what is usually a physical oeuvre into a book. ‘i THINK and I think i’ve THOUGHT a thought’ displays the diverse collection of Josse Pyl’s works.
Each page of the book is inscribed in pencil with additional elements from his works, developing new layers of symbolism. This play of symbols, systems, and language is kept quite enigmatic for the viewer, making it complex to piece together. However, all components visually flow nicely together, almost like a poetry read.
The thin paper used allows the overlapping between images, which opens up even more narratives in the very present universe which Pyl draws.
There is a lot of tactility emphasised by the use of paper. Together with the ambiguous nature of the visuals and the bewildering arrangement of elements, this leads the viewer into a search for more of what this book could be.
