Permanent Recession was probably the book we discussed the shortest. With our own backgrounds in graphic design many elements made us admire its simplicity. The book once again proves there is both a science and craftsmanship behind kerning, leadings, placing, point size, line length, tracking… It proves when all is perfect, nothing else is needed for an outstanding design. Besides the typographic quality, the choice of paper and especially the dimensions of the book seem to support the words and sentences on the pages. It all blends in, sort of melts together and creates an object to admire.
