Offentlighedens Rum
The language barrier made us engage with this book unlike the other submissions. Not knowing what the text is about led to an interesting discussion. Why the puke-green cover? Is it the typography that makes the design? What purpose serves the (un)folding and binding? It became about deciphering the design decisions from our respective backgrounds. Over time, this led to further exploration of how to navigate a graphical interface. We felt compelled to know more about the project. A peek on their website told us that “through images, short stories, essays, poems and statements, thoughts and experiences about public spaces are presented in this book.” Front to back, this book does an excellent job of showing many, many facets of the design and underlying principles that characterise this publication. A steady stream of documentation is sprinkled throughout, turning the text and images into a working landscape of where we live and the lives we lead.
