We love this book. I think for all of us it was just such a wonderful object. The design is subtle and for some reason bold at the same time – in a way managing to get the job done, but remain exciting throughout. Because Deep Time is completely absorbed in one humble creature it also ends up humbly beautiful. It becomes a sort of ode to the horseshoe crab. As the reader you feel the fascination coming out of the research and out of the pages. In terms of images, they are presented in such a way that it allows you to sink deeply into them. It also brought up a lengthy and interesting conversation about the paper used. We looked at other books to compare different paper textures and weights to discuss the process of making such paper. It was a fun conversation.
