Zona de Penumbra/Scenes Set Against Architecture
Ruby: This large book seems to be both the documentation of a performance done by Galia Eibenschutz, as well as her initial research. In the groom – scenes set against Architecture are silk screened beautifully on the cover in a letter that immediately reminds me of medieval churches. I love how the thick yellowish paper and layers of stunning images and typography suit the subject matter very well. When I look at it I feel eerie, and flipping through it conjures up the same feeling I could experience while walking through a dark church. The design of the book perfectly sets the tone of the content.
Birgit: I really like how you describe this, Ruby. I can only agree with everything you say about the book. Nothing else to add!
Patrick: Good combinations of beautiful typographic pages and full bleed images. The combination of the serif letter (Sabon LT std) and the sans serif (Akzidenz Grotesk) works very well and creates balance. The book indeed gives the feeling of a medieval church. I personally find it a pity that the designer seems to have exaggerated that feeling and has chosen the large calligraphic letter. That’s too much for me. Furthermore, a very nice book.
Auke: Ruby and Patrick. I don’t want to come across as a lazy person, but you guys you took the words right out of my mouth. I rest my case.
