A modestly detailed publication reflecting a period of research into purple textile ink. The general publication implicitly conveys the researcher’s methodological attitude and creates a three-part documentation which you can take apart, compare, hang, or frame.
The middle section offers gentle colours and precise typography. The text is playfully dispersed throughout, and by means of binding, the lettersection is vertically cut into two parts. All of this is nicely tied together with a simple elastic band.
Part of the publication is printed in the recycled ink that the research deals with. Not only does this show a commitment to detail, but also to the practice and consequence of the research. This is a very attentive detail to observe nowadays, and we are interested in seeing how it could grow to become more of a foundational design and research principle—one that is committed more extensively and consistently.
At the same time, it is refreshing to see designer-researchers working sustainably without mentioning it too explicitly as a selling point; this gives the publication an open and humble elegance. Extra compliments for the diagonal top indent in the middle section.
