The delicate and subtle elements of the design make this a beautiful book. It feels as though the approach of design and structuring is inspired by poetry. Clever usage of the printed color pages in the back of the book (a mixture of 4 Pantones) and the embossing on the cover are exam-ples of sublime attention to detail by which we were all impressed. Illustrations of birds become a very delicate element that transpires through the Japanese binded pages. The thickness of the pages evokes the illusion that the illustrations are pop-up pictures that form a dialogue with the text. In some parts of the book we can see a more experimental approach of typesetting which brings more excitement while reading the book. The printing and embossment on the cover play nicely together. The edges of the paper are perforated, which facilitates their opening if someone desires too, but more importantly, it keeps the thickness of the book block at an even level. The perforation also reminds us of feathers and together with the embossed cover, this gives some tactility to the otherwise smooth paper.
