The grid in which the documentation is organized does not appear imposed and we can find some frolicsome twists to at the back cover. The book is rigorously executed but there is still playfulness between the images and text within the grid. Through map and descriptions of the images with a date and location it is clear how to navigate through it. This book has a unique narrow and elongated format that is challenging for a designer. Yet in this book, the content is completely under control and the unusual long format serves in defining a rigorous layout. There is a smart detail in how the images are aligned to the grid and not adjusted in size themselves. The cover materiality is solid and timeless and the overall slightly “traditional” look creates an interesting friction with the sizing of the book itself.
