Cry of an Echo

An apologia, silently protesting. This book does not shout to be visible but will grab your attention with its magnetic appeal. It contains beautifulimages of the Białowieża Forest. The mistreatment in the images show a personal comment and acts as a narrative commenting on the underexposed topic of the logging in the last primeval forests of Poland. The books content is highly relevant and dealt within subtlety to raise awareness in a different, non-screaming way. The editing of images and the order show gloom but also beauty and magic of the forest at the same time. We were very fond of the fact that all the content in the book is done by one person, Małgorzata Stankiewicz. The large, matt pages are very immersive, giving the book a gloomy sense of decay and humidity. The book is a mysterious photo documentation of the forest. Full and well printed images make us feel like we’re there.
